Yeah, I actually had to cull down from a list of some 25 awesome fictional Irish people. From Marvel Comics alone we have Banshee, Siryn, Shamrock, most of the X-team Excalibur, Jason Macendale (Hobgoblin II) and most of the guys The Punisher has shot and killed recently.

April O'Neal, though -- that's brilliant. I can't believe I didn't even consider her.

Good list. I don't usually comment, but today is a day I tend to indulge myself. A few that should have made the list: 1) April O'Neil - quintessential tough-as-nails Irish New Yorker, later trained in the ancient Irish art of ninjitsu. 2) Dr. Doug Ross - defining moment: in his 1st scene ever, drunkenly singing Danny Boy while arranging his own IV rehydration. 3) Jack O'Lantern - little known DC superhero, "born to a poor farmer and acquired powers from a magical lantern given to him by an Irish fairy." Sigh. 4) Mr. Feeny - who wouldn't want to be coaxed through a rocky adolescence with his particular brand of Joycean wisdom?
