Just screw all of it, Jordan dies and Danny loses any rights to parent the baby. Tom pays the ransom and it blows up in his face getting his brother killed. Simon refuses to apologize and gets fired all of which leads Jack to become so frustrated that he cancels the show outright. Finally, faced with this entire trauma Matt over doses on a bunch of pills leaving Harriet wondering why the hell they spent years professing their love to each other and never had the emotional maturity to make the relationship work.

In the final scene, Harriet falls to her knees to pray at which point Tom’s bleary eyed parents stumble out of a doorway behind her and deliver the soon to be classic line “did anything happened while we were asleep?” Boom, fade to credits.
