I don't really want to see Ratatouille. First off, Pixar has to put a phonetic spelling on every movie posters because they think we're all idiots who can't pronounce the title. Second, I never really liked Pixar to begin with. And that's hard to stomach whenever a new Pixar movie comes out, because if bloggers like two things, it's Apple and Pixar (I'm looking at you, Kottke!), and there's been way too much of both lately.

You should check out Little Dieter Needs To Fly, the Werner Herzog doc about the guy who he's now making a dramatized movie out of. I think you know what I mean. But like all Werner Herzog docs, it's about an interesting subject filmed in one of the least-interesting ways possible. There's a lot of talking and it always seems like he threw together the film in a weekend. But it's a neat film; I liked it if only because I streamed it in decent quality off Netflix, which felt like magic). Too bad it SPOILS Rescue Dawn.

A friend of mine saw an advance screening of Rescue Dawn and said it was the best Herzog film since Aguirre, so that has to mean something. That is, if you liked Aguirre.

Pre-emptively: only Werner Herzog would make a documentary about someone, only to turn around and decide that he didn't get to make it quite right so he's going to dramatize it too. I need to watch more of his stuff.
